Very few people follow up with the employer. Statistics show that only 5% of job seekers send out a thank you letter.

Be one of the few, the proud, the person who gets the job…

Learn how to Write an Email Interview Thank You Letter by following the tips & example listed below:

  • Be courteous (even though you’re responding by email you should still be formal in your writing).
  • Customize the email to the person or persons who conducted the interview.
  • Mention anything of importance that you may have forgotten during the interview, especially if it pertains to the job opening.
  • Reinforce important information discussed during the interview.
  • Reiterate the fact that you are interested in the job.
  • Don’t exceed one page.
  • Thank the interviewer for their time.
  • Review your email for any errors in grammar, spelling, or punctuation.

Thank you notes that are successful in making an impact with the employer are ones that are sent the same day or no later than the next. Just Do It!

The jury is still out on whether or not sending a thank you letter via email is acceptable or proper. Consider the company’s culture when sending a thank you note. Technology has changed the job search market as email & web-based resumes are playing a huge role in employers finding the most qualified worker.

Don’t hesitate to write an email a thank you letter, as this is the quickest way to respond. If you have doubts you can always follow-up with a formal letter through snail mail.

The sample below can serve as a model when you write your email thank you note:

Thank you for the opportunity to interview for the position of Production Manager at UWE Manufacturing. My education and experience are a “fit” in assisting UWE achieve its organizational goals as it moves towards international expansion.

This effort increased ZXY’s profit by 4% over a 3-year period.
